SCHEDULE workperiod 25.12 -> 7.1 in Israel & Palestine

Yesterday, 25th December, cellist François Deppe (Ictus) and his wife, harpsicord-player Kimiko Nishi, already travelled from Brussels to Tel Aviv to start teaching students there at the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music (Tel Aviv University). Today, I am together with flutist Mike Schmid (Ictus) and my 9-year old daughter Mathilde also travelling there. This coming week I will most of the time stay with the musicians and attend their music workshops first at the Tel Aviv University, and from 28th December on in Nazareth at the music workshop organised by the Barenboim-Said Foundation, in collaboration with the Orpheus Foundation (Nazareth). For Ictus, this is going to be the 14th worksession-period since we started this pedagogical programme in Israel and Palestine only 4 years ago, in October 2002. Here is our detailed schedule for the coming two weeks: - - - ICTUS: 25.12: early evening: arrival in Tel Aviv of Ictus soloist François Deppe (cellist) and his wife harpsicord-player Kimiko Nishi 26.12: morning and afternoon: rehearsals for Tel Aviv concert at Buchmann-Mehta School of Music (Tel Aviv University) during the day: first meeting of composers who will be participating in composition workshop on 27.12 early evening: arrival in Tel Aviv of Ictus soloist Mike Schmid (flute) and Lukas Pairon with his daughter Mathilde 8 pm: concert at Tel Aviv University, Buchmann-Mehta School of Music by soloists of Ictus, François Deppe (cello) and Mike Schmid (flute) + also Kimiko Nishi (harpsichord): programme of concert: - Kevin Volans, Walking Song for flute, harpsichord and two hand clappers - Fabio Nieder, Jodeln (from a Laponian "yodel" tradition) for flute and cello - György Ligeti, Hungarian Rock for harpsichord - Xu Shuya, Taiyi II for flute and tape - György Ligeti, Continuum for harpsichord - Giacinto Scelsi, Triphon, part 2 for cello - J.S Bach, Sonate e minor for flute and continuo 27.12: early morning: arrival in Tel Aviv of Simone Susskind, vice-president of Music Fund (she will stay in the region until 8.1 and follow part of the Ictus and Music Fund activities) morning (11 am to 2 pm) and afternoon (3 to 6 pm): workshops by soloists of Ictus for composition students of Buchmann-Mehta School of Music, Tel Aviv University, who have specially for this occasion written new compositions for them to perform and discuss morning: visit of Lukas Pairon to Music Center of Sderot early evening: travel all to Nazareth by taxi 28.12 -> 6.01: worksessions of Ictus musicians in Nazareth within the music workshop organised by the Barenboim-Said Foundation and the Orpheus Foundation (Nazareth) for young musicians coming from music schools from Nazareth, Ramallah, Nablus, Jerusalem and Bethlehem 4.1: morning: travel from Nazareth to Nablus afternoon: music workshop for students of Nablus the Culture evening: concert by at Nablus the Culture by soloists of Ictus, François Deppe (cello) and Mike Schmid (flute) + also Kimiko Nishi (harpsichord) 5.1: morning: music workshop for students of Nablus the Culture afternoon: travel from Nablus back to Nazareth 6.1: 8 pm: concert of the Young Palestine Chamber Orchestra, the student orchestra of Barenboim-Said Foundation at the Municipal Cultural Center of Nazareth 7.1: 8 pm: concert of the Young Palestine Chamber Orchestra, the student orchestra of Barenboim-Said Foundation at the Municipal Cultural Center of Nazareth 7.01: morning: return of Mike Schmid from Tel Aviv to Brussels 8.01: morning: return of François Deppe and Kimiko Nishi from Tel Aviv to Brussels - - - MUSIC FUND: 31.12: early morning: flight Tel Aviv - Brussels for Lukas and Mathilde Pairon 1.1: noon flight Brussels - Tel Aviv for piano-expert Pol De Winter, his daughter Lisa and Lukas Pairon 2.1: morning: harbour of Ashdod - transfer of the music instruments out of the container into a truck to be rent afternoon: transport of the instruments towards Nazareth: Orpheus and Kibbouts of Mizra 3.1: Nazareth -> Ramallah distribution day in Ramallah: Al Kamandjati + Barenboim-Said Foundation 4.1: Ramallah -> Nablus distribution day in Naplouse: Nablus the Culture + Music Department of Al Najah University + National Music Centre 5.1: morning: Nablus -> Jenin: visit by Lukas Pairon of Freedom Theatre in Jenin afternoon: Jenin -> Nazareth 6.1: day in Nazareth 7.1: flights Pol and Lisa De Winter and Lukas Pairon from Tel Aviv to Brussels you can follow our activities in Israel and Palestine on this weblog, and you can also find podcasts of radio-interviews and pictures on our work on this webpage.
